There are two working sub-committees of the Architectural Heritage Committee whose functions are to promote architectural heritage. These are 'FRIENDS' of Architectural Heritage and DURBAN ART DECO. FRIENDS OF ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE Convener: Helen Labuschagne. (Tel : 031-3011951) 'FRIENDS of Architectural Heritage' was established by the Committee to promote architectural heritage and to provide an opportunity for the public to gain access to places of architectural and historical interest. Outings, as well as lectures on relevant subjects, are organized for a Sunday morning on average once a month. Membership is open to all. Cost is R35.00 per annum. Membership entitles you to be informed of regular outings as well as all the activities which take place in September around the 24th September, which is celebrated each year as 'Heritage Day'.
