Peter Louis Award Print E-mail

THE ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE COMMITTEE

of the

ITAFA AMALINDE HERITAGE TRUST

invites nominations for the

Peter  Louis  Award

 Criteria:

The Award shall be in the form of a bi-annual book award with certificate, awarded to a deserving individual or organization in the architectural heritage field.  This shall be a person or organization whose contribution to architectural heritage in KwaZulu Natal reflects the same kind of enjoyment, enthusiasm and high standards that Peter Louis unstintingly brought to his work. The Committee reserves the right not to make the award in any two year period if, in the opinion of the Committee, there are no suitable nominations.

Peter Louis was a quantity surveyor who had an abiding interest in the conservation of our architectural heritage.  He served on the KZN Architectural Heritage Committee for 25 years, from 1977 until his death in 2002.  His interests were wide-ranging and included classical music, history, theatre, birding, trout fishing and liberal politics.
