The aim of the IAHT Architectural Heritage Committee is to protect buildings and areas of architectural importance which contribute to our architectural heritage. The Committee members and the public act as 'watch-dogs' and inform the Committee of any buildings or structures which may be threatened by demolition or demolition by neglect. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . In KwaZulu- Natal. all buildings over 60 years of age are protected in terms of the KwaZulu-Natal Heritage Act, no. 10 of 1997. This Act is administered by Amafa aKwaZulu Natali (formerly the National Monuments Council). Any proposed alterations or demolition of buildings over 60 years old are to be submitted to the Built environment Committee of Amafa for consideration before any submission to local Council can be completed.
